Course Description: Molecular testing is increasingly necessary for diagnosis, determination of prognosis, and selection of therapy for modern oncology. Despite its promise, this technology is not without important limitations, some beginning with the sample itself. This talk will introduce a number of preanalytic, analytic, and postanalytic challenges faced by the clinical molecular laboratory.
Joshua Coleman, MD, Assistant Professor of Pathology, The Ohio State University. Dr. Coleman is an Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Prior to his career at Ohio State, he was a clinical fellow at ARUP Laboratories and Tricore Reference Laboratories and conducted his residency at the Cleveland Clinic. He is an accomplished researcher with an impressive publication record, including a recent paper on Molecular diagnostics in soft tissue sarcomas and gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
